SCA Foundation Series: Barista and Brewing Skills

This two-day foundation course is designed for those who are new to the coffee industry, and requires no previous barista experience to participate. Learn the theoretical and practical knowledge you’ll need behind the espresso and brew bar.

  • The origin and history of coffee beans
  • Workspace management
  • Learning about grinding, dosing and tamping
  • Learning brewing devices and techniques
  • Understanding extraction, golden cup ratio and various brewing parameters
  • An introduction to milk techniques
  • Creating a barista menu
  • The importance of hygiene, health and safety
  • Machine cleaning, maintenance and trouble-shooting
  • Customer service essential

Course fee is inclusive of:

  • 2 x SCA examinations and certificates worth €140 
  • A light lunch on each training day
